This oval faceted aquamarine features a pale blue color that looks great against any metal type, either on its own or partnered with any other gemstones. Its relative hardness makes it a great choice for a ring; set it on its own or pair it with complementary gemstones in blue, green and pastel shades such as amethyst or sapphire to create complex designs. Aquamarine is the birthstone for March.
Aquamarine, a transparent pastel blue to green-blue variety of beryl, is relatively abundant and often completely flawless. The crystal structure is hexagonal with striations along the length of the gemstone. Aquamarine gets its name from the Latin words for water and sea; according to folklore, this gemstone helps protect sailors and calm unruly seas.
The oval cut is an even, symmetrical shape but elongated. The arrangement of its facets is similar to that of a round brilliant, designed to maximize light and color.
